Built in the mid-19th century, Prosi’s House is a traditional semi-detached building in the coastal area of Suupohja. Brusi family with German origin had the house for four generations.
In 1999, the municipality of Karijoki bought the house from the heirs of the Prosi family. In 2003, the Karijoki Society rented the house for sixteen years. In 2005, Prosi’s House was awarded in South Ostrobothnia building heritage competition. In 2019, the municipality of Karijoki took over the maintenance of the house.
Traditional fireplaces and stairs leading to upstairs are authentic. The textiles in the house are mainly made by women from Karijoki. Sleeping is possible in outbuilding in yard of Prosin talo. A wedding couple spent their wedding night there!
There is also Liisa’s School and an old smoke sauna near to Prosi’s House.
